![]() Should one of them fail for whatever reason, the other one would not only have a monopoly, but there would be no way for anyone new to take the place of the failed one. In reality, the manufacturers have to hack around it in the way I described.Ĭurrently, we have only the last 2 companies producing graphics chips for PC: AMD and NVIDIA. The standards like DirectX and OpenGL are, mostly, really well thought through by now, and in theory, anyone should be able to enter the market by offering a chip that implements the functions exactly according to the standards. For any new manufacturer to start offering their own chips, they would have to go through the endless list of all games and do the same "hacking" thing BEFORE they could even hope to get on the market otherwise, reviewers would try their new chip, and then complain that OnCall Duty, Crapload of Honor and Resident Antigod do not work, giving the chip negative review scores, and therefore burying any chance it might have to bring something new to the market. But this is only possible because the chip manufacturers have produced thousands of "exceptions" (= game ready drivers), one for each of those games. This is the reason why on Day 1 and Day 2, the game performs much worse than afterwards, because in those 2 days, a bunch of exhausted programmers was hacking around the stupid game code and finally managed to push out a new "game ready" driver which fixes the most catastrophic stuff the game programmers created.īecause it essentially prohibits any new company from entering the graphics chip market! Think about it: There are thousands of games gamers EXPECT to be able to play on PC. So, the graphics chip developers look at the clusterfuck of code they see from 3D Realms or Activision Blizzard or any other company, and essentially hack their own card's drivers so that FOR THAT PARTICULAR GAME, the important functions like "StartFrame()" etc. However, all those extra function calls were defined for good reasons - the graphics card does all sorts of things whenever it KNOWS that you are starting a new frame, and if you don't tell it, it cannot do those things, which then can result in problems including overheating, artifacting etc. Now, what many game makers do is they remove all these extra function calls to make their overall code slightly faster (because calling a function takes a tiny amount of time), in order to achieve the dreaded 60 fps minimum requirement. Finally, you are required (by the standard) to call "FinishFrame()". Then, you should call few more functions which tell the card what kind of image it will be, and then you should populate it with graphical elements (pixels) using some more functions. Normally, when you are working with a 3D graphics adapter, you are required to call some initialization function, such as "StartFrame()", which tells the card "Look, a new picture will be generated now!". Then, they adjust the graphics driver to "work around" these errors. Here's the thing: When a new game is released, the graphics card manufacturers have dedicated teams that take the game and essentially reverse engineer it to find out how many programming errors are there in the calls to the graphics routines. The really SCARY thing for everyone should be the topic of "game-ready graphics drivers". I'm sorry for answering a different question, but the fact that games have bugs in them is nothing new - they always had, and they always will. However, major publishers (like Nintendo) get the advantage of graphic card drivers updating just to workaround these terrible game codes, while minor publishers have to deal with their own mess. And the guy said that basically all games are released this way. When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. In flight, both sexes show large white patches on. They were replying to someone that could not understand " why do AAA developers release their games even though it's full of bugs". From late summer to mid-autumn, males wear a nonbreeding plumage that looks very similar to female plumage. with the ship already built, pick the hermit and the dog, go to the first island and start the boat again, update your kingdom to stone age, go for the archer's statue and activate it, go for the griffin, kill the goop portal in the first island. What this guy wrote 6 years ago possibly answers your question. Kingdom Two Crowns or Stardew Valley Im (22 NB) more of a casual player I guess, and while I dont have many coop games I absolutely love stardew valley and kingdom 2 crowns, if anyone is interested my discord is AllureIshtar3973. ![]() First of all, start the game and then make a farm in level 2, grind some money and build the boat in this grinding time, go to the second island and start it making the boat with your bag full from the first island, build the camp again in the second island, go for the gems, pick the deer mound, buy the stone upgrade.
